Underworld’s Aragonite Coral Sand is mainly composed of skeletal materials of Scleractinian (stony or hard corals). It is harvested from unpolluted, tropical beaches and is carefully graded. This calcareous gravel is entirely natural and is the ideal substrate for marine, reef, brackish and freshwater Rift Cichlid aquaria. The fine coral sand has the ideal grain size to enable optimum water flow through diffusion in natural biological filtration methods such as deep sand beds. The composition of coral sand also makes it a natural and effective buffering media, where an alkaline pH of 8 to 8.3 is preferred.
